Crew Members – particularly in the Beccles area
Waveney Stardust is looking for new volunteer crew members. Run entirely by volunteers we provide subsidised Broadland River Cruises for the elderly and disabled across the Broads.
You will be joining a happy and professional team which provides a rewarding experience both for our passengers and volunteers. The role involves assisting a qualified Skipper on boat trips of half or full day duration in handling the cruiser; helping disabled and elderly passengers embark and dis-embark; making and serving tea, coffee and soft drinks; and on return to dock making the boat ready for the next trip.
No experience is needed but you must be over 18 and enjoy working with the elderly and disabled, full training will be provided.
Want to know more?
Please get in touch using the Contact page, and we would be pleased to talk to you, or better still complete and return an application form and we will take it from there.
We also have vacancies to assist with the Bookings and Enquiries, IT and other administration work.
What skills do I need?
If you’d like to crew, a boating background is an advantage but not essential. We have a training programme which is designed to enable anyone to become a qualified crew member or skipper. As far as the back office activities are concerned it’s always good to have organisational skills and those with IT skills would always be welcome.
The ability to get on with people is important and a good sense of humour always helps!
How much time is involved?
The simple answer is as much or as little as you are able to give, we have volunteers who are available for only one day a week in the season and others who are virtually full time throughout the year. There is always something that needs doing!
