Data Protection and Privacy Policy

This Data Protection and Privacy Policy forms part of the Terms and Conditions covering the operations of the Waveney Stardust Trust Ltd (WSTL) accessed via www.waveneystardust.co.uk (the “Website”).

In the course of our operations we collect, protect and use personal information provided by our customers, volunteers and others who register interest in our operations. This personal information will be held within the WSTL Systems that are the Website, Bookeo Booking System and MailChimp email management service. We also make use of Facebook and Groupspaces; these systems have their own Data Protection and Privacy policies agreed to when you create accounts with them.

What Information will we collect, hold and use?

WSTL minimize the amount of personal information held to that required to support safe and effective operation of WSTL cruises for the elderly and disabled. The information we hold is detailed below

For our customers, potential customers, members and followers we collect and hold:

  • Contact details including address, telephone number and email address
  • Details of bookings made
  • Stated preference regarding receipt of newsletters, updates and marketing information from Waveney Stardust Ltd

For our volunteers we collect and hold:

  • Contact details and other personal information as provided by you when you register as a volunteer
  • Details of attendance at training events
  • Details of relevant certificates held (Helmsman, First Aid etc)

For all visitors to the WSTL website we also collect non-personal information to produce anonymous website statistics to help us improve the website services. This information is:

  • ip address
  • Browser details – name, version, operating system
  • Referring web pages, if you clicked through to our site from another site

Note that if you make a booking, or use the ‘contact us’ form we also collect the information described under ‘Customers’ above.

Please note that we never disclose this information to any third party outside of The Systems listed in the introduction.

What will we do with your information

The Systems will record personal information if you make a booking, use the enquiry form or register as a volunteer.   We will also use The Systems to record your details if you write to, email or telephone us in connection WSTL cruises and operations. Any information that is collected by WSTL about you will be used only to deal with your booking, enquiry, work as a volunteer and for monitoring purposes unless you have given consent for your information to be used – eg. Providing us with your email on a contact form so that we can get back to you. When making a booking through our Website you will be given the opportunity to indicate your preference regarding receipt of marketing information and you may write to info@waveneystardust.co.uk at any time to opt in or out of our newsletters and marketing materials.

WSTL do not share your personal information with any other third party and we will ensure that all personal information supplied to systems under our control is held securely, in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.

As stated in the introduction to this document some of your information is held on third party systems with their own Privacy Policies to which you will have agreed when creating an account (e.g. Facebook and Groupspaces). We also use global service providers Bookeo and MailChimp and this necessarily involves the transmission of data on an international basis. Territories outside the European Economic Area (“EEA”) may not have laws that provide the same level of protection for personal information as those inside the EEA. However, if we process your personal information on servers or use third party service providers based in such territories, we will endeavor to ensure that your personal information is afforded the same level of protection as in the EEA. By visiting the Website and communicating electronically with us, you acknowledge our processing of personal information in this way.

Use of Social Media

Our Website may offer you the opportunity to share or follow information about the Website (or the products and/or services available through it) using third party social networking functionality (such as through “share this”, “like” or “follow” buttons). We offer this functionality in order to generate interest in the Website and WSTL among the members of your social networks, and to permit you to share and follow opinions, news and recommendations about the Website and WSTL with your friends. However, you should be aware that sharing personal or non-personal information with a social network may result in that information being collected by the social network provider or result in that information being made publicly-available, including through Internet search engines.

Please note that we do not exercise or endorse or control the policies or practices of any third party social network whose functionality you may access through the Website. You should always read the privacy policy of any social network through which you share information carefully in order to understand their specific privacy.

The Website contains links to other websites, including other registered charities as well as commercial organisations. This Privacy Policy does not cover such linked websites and WSTL is not responsible for the privacy practices within any of these other websites. You should be aware of this when you leave the Website and we encourage you to read the privacy statements of other websites.

Changes to this Data Protection and Privacy Policy

If this Data Protection Privacy Policy changes in any way, we will place an updated version on the website. If you do not agree with the changes we make please do not continue to use the Website.
