Volunteer Vacancies

We currently need to fill the following Volunteer Vacancies:

Crew Members – particularly in the Norwich, Horning, & Stalham areas

Waveney Stardust is looking for new volunteer crew members to be trained and ready for the new 2017 season starting in April.  Run entirely by volunteers we provide subsidised Broadland River Cruises for the elderly and disabled across the Broads.  We are particularly keen to have more volunteers from the areas around Horning, Stalham and Norwich.

You will be joining a happy and professional team which provides a rewarding experience both for our passengers and volunteers.  The role involves assisting a qualified Skipper on boat trips of half or full day duration in handling the cruiser; helping disabled and elderly passengers embark and dis-embark; making and serving tea, coffee and soft drinks; and on return to dock making the boat ready for the next trip.

No experience is needed but you must be over 18 and enjoy working with the elderly and disabled, full training will be provided.

Shore Support Officer

We monitor our cruisers whilst they are out to ensure the safety of our passengers and crews.

The role of the Shore Support Officer is to take a call from the skipper on departure, record the details or the cruise, number of passengers and crew. At the end of the cruise the skipper will call again to confirm safe return.

Also, to be available during the period of the cruise to instigate emergency procedures in the unlikely event of an incident.

This role could be carried out from home and would suit someone who is confined to home or works from home and has telephone and internet facilities.

The main requirements for this role are reliability, good record keeping and one to five days a week during the season.

Press and PR Officer

Following the launch of our second cruiser we now have the capacity to carry more passengers.

We are now developing our marketing activities and would like to recruit a Press and PR Officer to help us gain more publicity in the local press, radio and television.

This role would suit someone with a background in journalism, sales, marketing and PR. This may also appeal to someone studying any of these subjects as a way to gain hands on experience.
